This short art film was the dream and brainchild of Mira, who directed and co-produced the film in 2021. It was shot by Richard Ramsundar and debuted at Jahajee Sisters’ Annual Indo-Caribbean Women’s Empowerment Summit.
Artists in the Jahajee Sisters community collaborated to deliver sounds, music poetry, imagery, theatre, and dance that reflect their own musings on ancestry and the future of Indo-Caribbeans. From cutting cane and plantation strife to migration and living in the diaspora, the film reflects on our identity and possibility as Indo-Caribbean women and gender-expansive people.
